What are different SAP clients?
These three clients, CUST, QTST and PROD, are the central clients that exist in every system landscape. Standard system landscapes have precisely one client for each of these client roles.A separate client is required for productive use of the SAP System. So that this client can be used without disruption, it is essential that no Customizing settings or Workbench developments are made here, and also that no tests are carried out. This client is known as the Production Client, PROD for short. There are five main types of users in SAP, including:

It is not necessary to have all these, but most often they use this landscape in development systems. In production systems, different clients are used to seggregate access and data.

What are SAP standard clients

Clients 000, 001 and 066 are standard clients that are pre-delivered by SAP. These clients are not supposed to be used in development, quality and production environments. In the SAP landscape, a client is an entity with independent information and data. The SAP client concept is based on the fact that an application service provider (ASP) must provide and administer all resources at a minimal cost, which is quite challenging in a multiple customer-client environment.A client is a specific unit, wherein the SAP users will log on and do their business transactions. On a production server, the users log on only to one client. On the development, quality, or test systems, there can be several clients. Hope this answers your question.
